Innovation Business Manager

Overview 

Our client has recently been awarded with substantial funding from the government which will allow seamless research and development in the field of advanced materials in the UK. Additionally, the business has formed partnerships with other organizations to expedite the implementation of R&D concepts into practical applications. 

To ensure the establishment of an economically beneficial facility, the Business Manager will play a crucial role in the expansion of memberships, customer service and commercial activities inside the new facility. 

The successful applicant will be able to work well with many stakeholders and take pride in the success of the team. This quality must be paired with a drive for outcomes and the capacity to build high-level, long-term client relationship as the company expand. 

An understanding of the company’s products, services, organisation, communication, along with work ethics are essential. Prior knowledge of the pharmaceutical/OTC formulation is a preferable. National and international consumer travel is envisaged. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Create customer demand by targeting significant business issues
  • Negotiate with key supply chain decision makers to sign up new customers 
  • Increase commercial growth of our client 
  • Increase local and national ceramic commercialisation 
  • Targeted account portfolio for business development 
  • Budgeting and annual and/or periodic business planning 
  • Ensure client bids meet the budget 
  • Manage and report data well 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering or a related fields. 
  • Prior marketing expertise is preferable 

Experience/Skills: 

  • Developing new business opportunities 
  • Production expertise in advanced materials and ideally ceramics manufacturing and commercialisation of novel materials. 
  • Working in materials technology development and technical commercial contexts, able to meet client demands and organisational capabilities. 
  • Understanding industry-academic technology cooperation  
  • Ability to spot market opportunities  
  • Senior sales abilities to produce a wide base of business 
  • Financial, technical/operational and commercial leadership skills 
  • Credible for senior client discussions 
  • Sales agreement expert 
  • Aptitude to question ideas 
  • Maintain effective working relationships across organisations 
  • Planning initiative and judgment, prioritising critical tasks 
  • Ability to collaborate to address internal and external issues 
  • Writing and speaking abilities at all levels 
  • The office is in the United Kingdom, but require worldwide travel
