Job Ref: DevOps / Cloud Engineer

DevOps / Cloud Engineer

Our client is recruiting a Software Developer / Cloud Engineer with a focus on DevOps and Cloud technologies, techniques, and practices. They are looking for someone who is confident with the full software pipeline and likes to be involved in every phase of it. You will have a keen interest and understanding of cloud architecture using cloud platforms like AWS or GCP and you are ready to take on a leadership role in which you help shape their cloud processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and designing cloud architecture
  • Developing the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for their technology
  • Developing back-end software
  • Form interfaces to internal and third-party servers.
  • Managing a small development team
  • Managing and prioritising multiple tasks
  • Managing technical development where required
  • Communicate with customers to understand their requirements

Essential skills

  • To be able to pick up new technologies.
  • Experience using cloud platforms, preferably AWS
  • An interest in security and privacy
  • Comfortable with Unix command line tools
  • Experience with Version Control Systems, preferably Git.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl,…
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A solid understanding of software design and architecture.

Desirable Skills

  • Designing testable software and working with CI/CD systems.
  • RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of using Python, C++, PHP, and Javascript (NodeJS).
  • Infrastructure as Code. E.g. Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation
  • Docker, Kubernetes, LXC
