Commissioning Engineer

Summary:

PCL Ceramics is a leading Automation solution provider within the Ceramic pressure casting industry.

With nearly 30-year experience and a solid reputation, PCL is now looking to build the next phase of its development by reinforcing its technical leadership within the field of traditional ceramics and of technical ceramics.

In order to support our ambition, we are looking to appoint a Commissioning Engineer to join our Engineering Support Team, working within our PCL Service division.

Key responsibilities (your job is):

• Assist in the final stages of assembly of the equipment during the manufacturing phase in King’s Lynn
• Pre-commissioning the equipment once it is completed and rectification of any faults found.
• Supervision of the loading and unloading of equipment at King’s Lynn and customer sites.
• The supervision of moving, accurately positioning and fixing of equipment.
• Complete electrical and mechanical interconnections and services (Air, water, electric, drainage and slip) connections to supplied equipment and moulds.
• Supervision of contractors or customer staff in all other installation tasks
• Commissioning of supplied equipment and moulds, and the resolution of all issues or faults found.
• Equipment, mould and cycle optimisation to achieve the agreed outputs and quality standards
• Completion of demonstration test runs to prove to the customer that the equipment and moulds are performing to the required standards, availability and yields
• Instruct all customers in the operation, safety and maintenance of the supplied equipment and moulds.
• Administrative / office duties including customer contact via e-mail and phone, arranging travel requirements, completion of expenses and report writing
• Provide customers with remote access support
• Conduct operator and maintenance training at a customer’s site
• Provide rapid response on-site technical assistance to customers worldwide with problems

Person Specification:

Experience and Qualifications:

• Electromechanical Engineering background
• Experience in PLC controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics, preferable.
• Flexible with the ability to work around business changing needs

Key skills and competencies

• PLC programming skills or qualifications (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
• Working knowledge of pneumatic systems
• Ability to work alone and unsupervised on customer sites worldwide
• Computer literate and a working knowledge of Microsoft office products
• UK driving licence
• UK Passport with no access restrictions
