Application Developer

About the Role

The position entails a blend of primary business systems development and specialised application development, tailored to meet varying operational needs.

The Main Purpose of the Job

The responsibilities are divided into two main areas, focusing on Business Systems Business Intelligence (BI) and Application Development, alongside specialised Application Development, with a majority of efforts allocated to the former.

Working Relationships and Environment

Based within the organisation, the role requires frequent collaboration with the Development Management team, internal systems teams, site-specific staff, and external contacts. It also includes occasional travel within the region for inter-site coordination.

Principal Accountabilities/Authorities

The individual will be the go-to expert for customer and product data, supporting the manager in fulfilling reporting needs and maintaining business analysis activities to high standards and within budget.

Principal Responsibilities

Responsibilities include in-house system customisation, development, reporting, coordination for small-scale enhancements, timely problem resolution, and upholding data integrity.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience), have project management capabilities, prior experience with ERP systems, and hold a full, clean driving licence.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Strong communication skills capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented work style.

Technical Understanding

  • Proficiency in the company’s core reporting technologies and processes.
  • Experience with specialised data functions and processes.
  • Knowledge of BI tools, SQL, Crystal Reports, .NET environments, XML/XSLT/XSD principles, PL/SQL, IFS Functionality, Qliksense, DBMS implementation, and associated applications.
  • Skill in developing user-interactive applications and adapting development skills to various environments.

Problem-Solving

  • Analytical skills to investigate and resolve application issues, with an aptitude for identifying and addressing root causes.

Work Approach

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise business needs, and collaborate effectively.
